Publication Ethics

Vietnam Journal of Agricultural Sciences follows specific ethical standards for publication to ensure high-quality scientific publications, public trust in scientific findings, and due credit for original ideas. Vietnam Journal of Agricultural Sciences adores and abides by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Best Practice Guidelines (https://publicationethics.org/guidance/Guidelines).

Authors who submit papers to Vietnam Journal of Agricultural Sciences have to certify that his/her/their work is original and is not published or under publication consideration elsewhere. Also, the authors confirm that submitted papers have not been copied or plagiarized, in whole or in part, from other papers or studies. The authors certify that he/she does not have potential conflicts of interest or partial benefits related to their articles.

Vietnam Journal of Agricultural Sciences will check for plagiarism in all submitted articles. If plagiarism is detected at any stage of the processing and publication process, the author will be instructed to rewrite the manuscript. Every submission will be scanned by iThenticate and/or Turnitin to prevent plagiarism. If any manuscript is over 30% plagiarized, the article will be rejected and the author will be notified.

Vietnam Journal of Agricultural Sciences is committed to objective and fair double blind peer reviews of submitted papers and the prevention of any actual or potential conflicts of interest between writers and reviewers.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF SECTION EDITORS AND THE EDITORIAL BOARD

Editorial Responsibilities and Independence:
All section editors of Vietnam Journal of Agricultural Sciences are independent, fair and balanced in their evaluations and decisions in the journal. Publishing decisions are to be made purely on the quality and suitability of the articles. All submissions should be handled ina timely and careful manner.

Privacy and Conflict of Interest:

Section editors and members of the Editorial Board of the journal can not share submitted materials with third parties other than section editors, Language editors, copy editors, and layout editors when needed, and to use the submitted materials themselves. In case, there is a conflict of interest among an editor and an author or institution of the author in terms of cooperation or competition, then another member of the Editorial board is assigned to carry out the evaluation process.

Publishing Decisions:

The section editors assign at least two reviewers expert in the field. The editor-in-chief or vice editor-in-chief is responsible for the decision of publishing a manuscript considering the importance of the manuscripts for researchers and readers, reviewer reports, plagiarism, and copyright infringement as legal issues. Editor-in-chief or vice editor-in-chief may make a discussion with section editors and reviewers for his/her decision.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF REVIEWERS

Duties: Reviewers and editors should not make any use of the data, arguments, or interpretations, unless they have the authors’ permission. Reviewers should provide speedy, accurate, courteous, unbiased and justifiable reports. If reviewers suspect misconduct, they should write in confidence to the editor. 

Quickness:
If a reviewer assigned for evaluation of an article is an expert in a field of science other than the manuscript content, is far into the subject of the manuscript, is short of time for evaluation or possess a conflict of interest, then he/she should inform the managing editor as soon as possible. If the content of the manuscript fits the expertise field of the reviewer, then he/she should complete the evaluation and send the report to the editor as soon as possible.

Privacy:
Reviewers can not share any information about the articles with third parties except the editors involved in the evaluation. Reviewers continue not to share information even after the manuscripts are accepted or rejected for publication.

Conflict of Interests:
If a reviewer is in a situation by being involved in one or more interests with the author(s), he/she should inform the editor of the assigning editor and ask his/her withdrawal.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE AUTHORS
Authors have to ensure that:

The manuscript has not been submitted to more than one journal for simultaneous consideration.
The manuscript has not been published previously (partly or in full), unless the new work concerns an expansion of previous work (please provide transparency on the re-use of material to avoid the hint of text-recycling (“self-plagiarism”)).
A single study is not split up into several parts to increase the number of submissions and submitted to different journals or to one journal over time.

Originality and Plagiarism:

The authors of submitted manuscripts should make sure that their manuscripts are original and/or include cited references for quotations. Plagiarism ranges from the unreferenced use of others’ published and unpublished ideas, including research grant applications to submission under “new” authorship of a complete paper, sometimes in a different language. It may occur at any stage of planning, research, writing, or publication; it applies to print and electronic versions. All sources should be disclosed, and if large amounts of other people’s written or illustrative material is to be used, permission must be sought.


Vietnam Journal of Agricultural Sciences will check for plagiarism in all submitted articles before publication. Every submission will be scanned by iThenticate and/or Turnitin to prevent plagiarism. If any manuscript is over 30% plagiarized, the article will be rejected and the author will be notified. We strongly recommend that authors check the similarity rate of the article before submitting it for publication. Plagiarism can be checked by using free online software.

Multiple, Repeated, Unnecessary or Simultaneous Submissions:
Authors should not produce more than one publication reporting on the same research.

Authorship of Manuscripts:

Authors whose names are included in the submission have contributed sufficiently to the scientific work.

Changes in Authorship:
Any changes to the list of authors after submissions, such as addition, deletion, or changes in the order of authors, must be approved by each author. If you request to add, delete or rearrange the authors of the accepted article, the corresponding author must contact the Journal Managing Editor and provide (a) the reason for the change and (b) the written consent of all co-authors, including removed or added authors.

Conflict of Interests:
Authors should clearly declare any kind of conflict of interest in their manuscripts.
